just read about the mole traps i like the harpoon too! looks midevil gotta get me one. i think homedepot has them.
Here is a good publication put out by the Alabama Extension Service detailing how to deal with moles...I personally like the "harpoon" traps and you see these type traps much more often at hardware stores. Don't look at this as a chore but something to have a little fun with b/c it's not a quick process. My best advice when it comes to trapping is to "walk down" as many tunnels as you can as often as you can and see if any of the same ones keep coming back....if so they will be the "travel" tunnels to and from bedding and feeding and the easiest to trap them in....many time they tend to bed around tree stumps, especially ones that are rotting out after being cut....hope this helps....

Got crappie?:D
the reason i ask about your surroundings is it might be hard to remove them for good with having fields or neighborers that don't care and let there yards become breeding grounds. As mentioned above you will want to treat your yard for grubs, this will keep them from wanting to come back. The type of trap you might try since you have mostly tunnels is Mole Eliminator mole traps moletraps
I have every type of trap and they all work and have there place but this one i really like , its very easy to set, its safe and it isn't set till you put it on the ground , also when its triggered and you pull it up and you'll know if you got one , the Harpoon type ones you never know unless you dig up the area. Also as mentioned stomp down all your mole runs and wait till you see what ones are active , then set traps there
happy hunting
get two dachshunds and they will keep any hole dwellin critters away..

I have used crushed red pepper before and they took off. The pepper gets into the ground from the rain and irritates them and they leave.

I thought I was having problems with moles too but it ended up being voles. Theu look like field mice but with stubby tails, they were tearing up my garden and eating the roots of my vegetables. They dig tunnels just like moles so I put mouse traps at what I thought were the entrancies and ended up catching about 5 voles. Funny, I've lived in Georgia all my life and didn't know what a vole was. Anyhow good luck to ya.
Bluegill
any success yet ?
No. I decided I will work on gettin' rid of their food source. I don't want to fool with traps and all the mole killer products, which are very time consuming. Basically because I am lazy when it comes to that stuff. I gotta go get some insect killer I can spread on the whole yard. Hopefully once I get rid of the grubs, sod worms and mole crickets the moles will go away.
I have a part shepard and border collie who loves to kill them. He does a great job other than huge holes all over the yard. By the way, he likes steak and has been talking about crappie fishing in Ga.?????????
