Thanks guys - checking in from Central FL. Grey haired guy with tin boat. Started fishing while in diapers. Love it.

Used to catch a lot of crappies when growing up - New England. Troll white sassy shad or twister tail on 1/8 oz jigs and fill a bucket. We had a lake that was loaded. Also love to catch yellow perch. Throw some river trout & salmon, LM/SM bass, pike, walleyes in there too. Saltwater fish were primarily stripers, blues, flounder, tautog/blackfish.

Moved to FL long time ago and would wear out the inshore saltwater fish - reds, snook, trout. Had a bad fish kill and poor water quality for a series of years - less resident fish because of it. Few to no "slot size" reds left, the snook changed their hangouts, and the trout are pretty easy but larger fish are tougher to find. We do have some big reds dialed in but they get enough pressure and can't keep em. Do some nearshore offshore stuff - kingfish, spanish mackerel, red snapper, the smaller snappers, etc. All is fun.

Take my dad fishing most weekends.

Decided to see if could get him interested in catching some "specs" this year and we've gone 2x.
Lake Monroe was good to us and gave us 2 with a bunch of fish visible on the sonar. We found em and got 2, lost 1, then wind changed and went up to 1.5-2 ft waves. Gave the fish and left over bait to a young lad at the ramp when we got back in.
Tried spots in Jessup following weekend and got 2 catfish. Saw the mass of spec fishermen all clustered together but no-one was catching.

    Fishing inshore saltwater this weekend.
