The love for fishing is one of the best gifts you can pass along
Thanks everyone for the warm welcomes. I don't know how I just stumbles across this group but browsed around a while and thought I should join up. I am a novice at bigger water crappie fishing but fell in loved catching them in the creeks in the spring back home in Missouri. Moved away with the Navy and now been here in Maine for 15 years. A quick story.... I got stationed in Brunswick in May 2004, didn't take long for me to drive around and try to find some places to fish. I drove out to Pleasant Pond and saw a couple older gentlemen fishing off the bridge. Sitting on a minnow bucket I thought that they were probably fishing for crappie. Not having a pole or anything since I just moved here I went to Wally World to try and buy a jig pole and some jigs with no luck. I went to a few places and they all pretty much looked at me like I was crazy. so ordered a couple rods and handful of jigs from Bass Pro and had them delivered 2 days later. The day they arrived I headed back out to that bridge now armed with 12' jig poles and jigs. The same 2 guys (wish I remembered their names) kind of gave me that same look everyone else did when I was looking for jigs at the store. I quietly fished on the other side of the bridge. It didn't take long to get the feel back and I was running a small bobber and 2 jigs pulling in doubles. I must have been catching them 6 to their 1. They kept looking over trying to figure out what I was doing. We got into a pretty good conversation just before it was getting time to wrap things up and my bucket was nearly full of fish. I showed them the set up and gave them a handful of jigs and the next night they were putting them to good work. Anyhow that is my intro and first fishing story from the state of Maine. Cheers
