Thanks for the welcoming. I caught my first fish when I was five and haven't stopped in the 60 years since then.

My basic philosophy on hunting and fishing is summed up in a quote from Rebecca Grey's "Eat like a wild man".

"Food is at the core of hunting and fishing".

I do not hunt or fish for "Sport". I do it for food. I don't "need" the food, but I "need" to hunt and fish, so I eat what I kill and catch. I may do it in a "sporting" manner at times, but it is never for the Sport.

#1 wife is preparing part of yesterday's crappie catch in something she calls "Vera Cruz". I don't know what it is or how it is made yet, but I'm sure it will be good.

The Crappie have really been "ON" at the little lake near my house. I have gotten enough in the last week to ensure a proper fish fry for father's day with my three sons and their families.

Thanks again for the welcome. I'm looking forward to some good crappie reading.

    Welcome to the forum.
Pass the "Sportsman Baton" on before you're gone, promote values for others to hunt and fish upon.

Evidently, Crappie Vera Cruz is VERY good.

Pan Fried crappie smothered in tomatoes, onions and green olives over rice.
