Thanks everyone for the welcome.I am steve and i am in central kentucky.I am 51 and love fishing though i have never been a crappie fisherman.I stumbled onto this site while checking out fly tying patterns and found a lot of great information here.I have a few old jig heads so I think i will try my hand at tying a few jigs and try my luck on the water. The weather is getting cooler and the water temp is dropping so right now will probably be the perfect time to try it out.

Stop in at the KY state forum and say hello to the KY gang, sometime. Just remember that you can't advertise & sell your products unless you're a Member Sponsor ... but, you can report about and show pics of the fish you catch, the lakes you fish, and join in on our get togethers & Fruit Jar Tourneys if you care to.
Note : don't ask for "specific" info about a lake you want to fish, and make the bottom of the boat or the sky your backdrop for your pictures. That way you don't give away any specific "honey hole" spot (picture) or come off as a "internet troll/meat hog" that's just here to reap the rewards of the hard work of others. There will be plenty of info shared about the various lakes in the state, so just keep your eyes peeled for reports on the lakes of your choice, and read back through the posts that may interest you.
... luck2ya, and enjoy all of what the site has to offer !!
