Welcome from Mississippi.
Greetings.... I had really never fished for crappie very much before March of this year. All I knew was that spring is supposed to be a good time and minnows are supposed to be good bait. So on a whim I bought some minnows and dunked 'em in a spot where I knew there was some brush in about 8 ft of water, on my 8-acre "home lake." The first fish weight 2 lbs - 3 oz and several more between 1.5 and 2.0 (black crappie). Not too shabby for a pond that I didn't even know had crappie in it. That went on for 2 or 3 more weeks. Now they are pretty much done with the spawn I have to hunt them. There are still small ones around the brush but the bigger ones seem to be suspended over deeper water. Look forward to learning all I can on this forum....and maybe I can train the big girl in the picture to sniff 'em out...
