New member from eastern North Carolina. 59 years old farmer and enjoy fishing and playing music. UNC Tarheel fan. Like college football and baseball. Mostly fish in mill ponds and reservoirs. Coastal waters are too crowded for me. Looks like a good website. Talk to you later.

Just joined, I have fished for every species but I find myself always trying to find Crappies. I have been to Canada 7 or 8 times for Walleye, I used to fish a local Bass tounament, and I live a few minutes from Lake Michigan and have done a lot of Salmon and Trout fishing. I have even did some Tarpon fishing in Puerto Rico, but I can't get enough Crappie fishing. The last 8 years or so I have been going to Kentucky Lake in the spring for Crappie and have learned a lot of different techniques for catching these criters. I have a 17.5 inch replica of a black Crappie I caught in Kentucky, my biggest so far.
FISHING, no better way to spend the day!

Hello.. I am a newbee to this forum. Just retired. I am from Russellville Ar and started crappie fishing when depth-finders just came out. Jerry McKinnis was on at 10:30 on Sunday nights and convinced me to purchase a depthfinder instead of buying my wife a new stove. I got lucky on my first structucture fishing trip and caught a limit of nice slabs on Lake Dardanelle. Learned Buck Perry's system from Lunkers Love Nightcrawlers and Fishing Facts. This was 40 years ago.

I had modified a vise to make sliders. Hope this workssee attachmen below)
    1. I drilled a hole the same size as the jig eye.
    2. Placed the jig in the vise with the eye in the hole
    3. Mashed the jig.
    4. It will be tight but a little twist and it will come out.
    5. Trim or adjust to make make lighter.

Thumbs up newbie here( bit of a long post, sorry)

Hey all! guybass here. first I want to say thanks for the website.I live in Darke county 3 miles from Eldora speedway. I have spent most of my fishing life chassin green fish and have had good success at it. I usually crappie fish for food in the spring and fall when the water cools, and have to admit I have a lot to learn, that's why I joined the sight. When one wants to learn, you find the folks in the know and take in as much advice as you can. So here I am. I have caught some nice crappies in the past at Indian lake but still have much to learn about that. I consider ft loramie my home lake and st marys as my 2nd, what a dissappointment that is. I am heading up to lake erie in a few weeks and found this website in hopes of getting a little help. I know east and west harbors like the back of my hand and also the portage river a bit, but like I said earlier, I was chassin green fish. I have seen the show with Russ Bailey but not exactly sure where he was fishing. So, if anyone has fished the harbor areas or portage river in november, I would be greatful to know if the docks or wood will be good then, or if I shoud go to delaware or ceasars creek. Sorry for the long post, being new I had a bit to say. If there's any info I can share with you folks, I would sure try to help. again, thanks for the website and keep up the good job with your forums. So far I have enjoyed reading the post and, I also bought some jigs basd on the websites sponsors and such. That for me is what it's all about. Good luck to all this crappie season, and God Bless...... Guy

This is the missing link from my previous post on how to make a slider. As you can see from the rust on the vise it's almost as old as I am.
hope this one works. I am not real good at this puter stuff.

Default Not new to Crappie, just Crappie.com

Greetings everyone, from Texas. I'm a fairly experienced fisherman, for White Bass, Black Bass, Stripers, and a few Blue Cats. Glad I found your forum, and hope to learn, as well as contribute, new ideas!

    Default Thanks for the welcome!!!

I'm new to the forum but looking forward to hooking up with folk on common ground crappie fishing (what we down here in North Louisiana call white perch). I live on a small lake near Winnfield, LA called Saline Lake and at one time was one of the premier crappie lakes in the south. I live to fish for White Perch and tie my own jigs, I only have about 50 years experience so I'm relatively new to the sport. Thanks again for the welcome.
