I got this idea from watching Salmon go through a school of Herring, slapping the Herring, which wounded them and then coming back and liesurly eating the poor sadly barely moving Herring that had been slapped silly and could only swim sorta on thier sides and wiggle a bit, then lay on thier sides and rest. Then wiggle a bit more, etc!
In lakes I've seem Minnows laying on the surface, apearently dead, laying on thier sides. Then a spark of life and they try to dive, only to float back to the surface again and lay quietly, till the Grim Reaper finally shows up.
So how about a Small Minnow look-alike that is tied to the hook, laying over on its side?
This would probably be fished Dry, on the surface, or maybe with a slow sinking tip.
Has anybody invented that one yet?
Possibly a Small Clouser tied across the hook for some Deep mooching?
I just wish I could be better at fishing. Or maybe luckier!:D

Thanks, I'm at the public library now and they dont allow YouTube. The Adult filter got me. How do they know who I am anyway?
I'll have to wait till the weekdays and an adult supervisor will take the filter off for me.

I got this idea tied up tonite. I used two Teal feathers from the opposite sides of the Teal so they curled into each other at the tail.
They are tied on a Curly hook so the feathers hide the hook.
I'm hoping it will float on it's side. If not I'll have to modify it I guess.
Thank you for not laughing at this first try.

If it doesn't float the way you want tie some floating yarn around the hook shank till it floats the way you want it too. The teal when wet will sink but the floating yarn should hold it up. Just tie em and put em in a glass of water to see if it works.

Thanks for that tip.
That fly aint pretty, so I have high hopes for it's success.
Years ago an old guy in Canada told me to take the Dr Spratly, spit on it, drop it into the mud in the bottom of the boat and rub it around a bit with your shoe.
He said: "then it'l catch fish!"
By golly he was right too.
So my Ugly silly shad just might be the right guy in the right place at the right time!
I'm hoping anyway.

It didnt work. I fished from Dark to an hour after lunch. Not one hit. Trolling or Casting.
The Feathers dont stay flurled out. Giving the fly body some shape. I'll have to amend that some time tomorrow.
