    Default Favorite trout stream

I have fished in many states and I would say Alaska is the best fly fishing I have ever done. However I really enjoy dry fly fishing and Alaska would not be at the top of my list. The South Houlston in Tennessee is without a doubt the best dry fly water I have experienced. Some of the western states can come close but the SH has a Sulphur hatch almost daily from May through October. Also caddis and a splashing of other Mayflys make this a dream stream for fishing drys.
    What is your favorite stream?

Let me add another stream that is worth fishing-fly fishing at.
The Yellowbreeches south of Harrisburg Pa. is a excellent trout stream and can be fished year round. However there is only a one mile C and R section from mid Feb,- April that is open.
I has many hatches starting with black and brown stone flies in late winter. Opening day in April can see Grannom Caddis and Hendricksons. In May we usually see Sulphurs and Gray Fox in the late evening. Summer can see a mix of lighter colored flies such as Light Cahills. Do not forget your terrestrials for those hot summer days. The upper 1/2 of the stream stays relatively cool all summed do to it is a limestone stream. However in late summer C and R can be limited in some areas do to water temperatures can get as high as 70 deg.
There are plenty of wild brown as well as about 70,000 stocked trout a year so bait fishing can be very popular in the spring through summer.
Do you have a stream you enjoy fishing?

the little Lehigh in Pennsylvania used to be worthy in the fly only stretch of it , been many moons since I been there, but it was really good way back when , but absolutely NOTHING compares to the Russian above the confluence in the snow melt clear waters in Alaska .

let me add this here fish story about the Russian river in Alaska , we would target the red run aka sockeye salmon , we carried real heavy weight fly tackle , them fish are WAY past brutal to play with in case you didn't know .
it is called combat fishing up there for a reason ....
sometimes we would hit the rainbows in there due to the abundance and possibly real large fish that might be lurking in that little shallow thing. so we are just standing on the bank on a bear trail and chatting it up about the next hole upstream a ways , the water is no more than 24 inches deep in that spot and as we are chatting he dangles an egg imitation right at our feet in the water ....
AN ABSOLUTELY MONSTER rainbow shot out from under the bank and HAMMERED his egg imitation fly and about dislocated his arm on the EXIT stage right ! He still had his 20 lb tippet still on from salmon chasing downstream and his drag set tight and that fish NEVER even slowed down a half second !
That fish snapped that 20 lb tippet like a 2 lb one and NEVER looked back .....
to this day some almost 20 years later it is stuck in my mind , the last thing that we saw was it's tail and to be very sure of this it was bigger than any rainbow tail I ever seen in my life .....just WOW what a giant rainbow ....
