Default Bluegill Flies I Tie And Fish

Hope you guys don't mind me posting some pictures of some of my bluegill flies. They are not my own creations but are patterns I've learned from various sources. The first one is a pattern called the Predator. It's a foam topwater fly and I've had a good bit of success with it when the 'gills are feeding on top or can be induced to come to the surface. It can be tied in a variety of colors, but this is my best color combination.

Red and White Humbug. There are all kinds of color combinations for this one, but the red and white has been a good pattern for me.

And last, but certainly not least is a Red Fox Squirrel Nymph (RFSN). This is one of my most productive patterns. I even tied it once in a combination of orange and purple in honor of my Clemson Tigers as a joke, really, but even that caught me several 'gills.

Those are neat looking flies. I love to fish for Bream with flies. I've used store bought poppers and top water flies and nymphs, but the most effective one I've ever used was one a friend on mine tied and it was dirt simple. He just called it a "Hair Bug" and the closest thing I could find as a pattern was a Griffin Gnat which is what I tie.
When I do fish below surface I have a Hellgrammite pattern that I learned in an Orvis fly tying class years ago. Lots of fun catching Bream and an occasional Bass on a Fly Rod. I am not a purist, far from it. I never really got into all the nuances that went with trout fishing, just enjoy the pond fellows.

Griffin Gnat. (This is a file photo, by the way. Not one I tied)
