Was at Cabela's a while back and picked up some of the short 2 and 3 weight rods. Not fishing trout or small waters, and mostly from a boat they were just a novelty. Cool as could be if you were a dedicated 'giller. They gotta be a ton of fun. Not cheap but extremely light in hand. They'd be a gas with a lightweight reel.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
Hey DB4D - it doesn't matter. Anyone who wants to fly fish with a five foot rod deserves what he gets.
Why didn't you suggest he use an 8-weight line and size 2 poppers with it?
I know a surgeon who could use the work.
(You could get a commission from it...) :D

My newest rig is a 5-ft 2-weight... I bought it specifically to use on a small creek around here that has a ton of gills in it. Short casts are all that's needed to fish it. But let me tell ya... With that short of a rod, your leverage to "steer" fish is almost nil so you have to be careful around weed beds and structure. And a white bass will take ya for a bit of a ride! :D
i've recently outfitted my tiny flyrod with size 2 wf fly line, and my issue of amount of line i can fit on the reel is solved!fits so much more of the size 2 stuff :D also i put power pro 5 pound test as my leader.can't wait to test it out!
bxn, Do you know were you bought that small Penn fly reel, 12.99 ? Or , even a model # & web site ? I would like to try that reel for ice fishing. Thanks, Don
wal mart has very small Ugly Stick*s in there fishing for like $8 bucks.
