    Default Astor Last Week

Had to make an unexpected trip to my Astor Fish Camp with my brother last week due to our Dad being in the Deland hospital with pneumonia. He’s out and better now after a 10 night stay. He insisted we take his boat out a couple times in the mornings instead of sitting in the room all day with him so we obliged lol. Fished one of the shallow lakes that you can only troll when the river is high like it’s been lately. Even at that the water was only 3.5-5’ and you spent a lot of time cleaning weeds off your jigs and minnows. Was pushing minnows and pulling jigs and the jigs out performed the live bait probably 5-1. Caught my PB last winter out of the river at 2.8lb and I’m pretty sure I had that beat but it got off at the boat. Would of swore it was a catfish or gar! We managed 17 the first day including 2 over 2 pounds and then 7 the next but had to cut our day short to visit Dad before dropping my brother off at the airport.

Nice boat, and I like the boat rules too. 10", and can't stop on 13, I like those rules. Glad he's better. Do another video when you can get him out on the water.

    Loved the video!
The best thing my dad ever gave me was his love of fishing.

Nice trip. I know you guys wished your Dad was able to had went with you. Those are some dark fish. Theyre pretty much still white here as our water is 52* here. Congrats on your catch and the time spent on the water together.

Thanks guys! Dad has had his boat out once and has been doing a lot of dock fishing. Got himself a 2.2# off the dock yesterday!

Glad to hear he’s better and back home. I danced with Covid and double pneumonia a few years back and it’s no joke. That a good fish he’s holding.l
