I was sick today and couldn't come as u know I always make those. Now that Fwc says lake beaclair is now a bass lake not a crappie lake and growing weeds to the top I have given up on the local fwc. Nice folks that have lost their way due to pollitics

I did give the "sprayers" an earful. After ten years of being here on the lake and watching them spray the weeds, I'm convinced I don't like it. Problem is, they try to target the problem weeds, but they spray too much at a time. The spray goes all over (obviously cause they're spraying in WATER), and the good weeds, namely the Lilly Pads, die off too. Then you have nothing but islands of floating, deal Lilly Pad islands where the bad weeds take off on! It don't happen right away, but it makes a big mess in the canals of floating rotting lilly pad roots/logs. Kills a ton of good habitat.
But I gotta say, these FWC peeps are awesome, they're trying to do the right thing (IMHO), but don't always get it right, especially cause as I understand it, they outsource the spraying, and I guess some outsources just aren't quite doing it right!
Linda, personally I don't think they should spray beaclair, just let it go though it's cycle. Maybe just spray access canals and such, but don't kill the weeds off the whole lake, the stuff just rots on the bottom, and the hydrilla just comes back anyway. I watched it, it comes back way fast. As the weeds die and start to sink to the bottom, you;ll see new weeds sprouting up through the dead stuff.
Plantung weeds is different than natural growth

The fwc local has stated to me that they will stop the 4-8 pole fishing--they dont like it and of course all those weeds do stop it!
