Ketchn, I was about an hour and a half north of there. These mangroves were dealing with extra high tides cuz of the full moon so there wasn’t much room. To cast up underneath the branches. These fish were around the corner of a mangrove point in calmer water and sitting just off the bank, and they was active! One of my dream trips is a few days down that way or maybe a little further south but the problem is where does the boat go when you sleep? Security and all that. But I still wanna go.

rented a v bottom from some fella in the swamp back when , gave me a map of the swamp and told me don't get lost
took me some shrimp and ketched me all kinds of things in that mangrove swamp , lady fish , sheepshead , mangrove snapper , snook and the list went on ....
it was hilarious when I rolled back up and told him about the monster sheepshead in a herd at an intersection in that swamp ....
he looked at me like I was a nut and said this "you didn't keep none " ?
told him they were a pain in the you know what biting off my wire hooks ....
told me how great they taste and just like that , I was back there the next day with some heavier long shank hooks and headed to that intersection , loaded the boat with big ole slab sheepshead and took them back to the house and let them meet the knife and the grease .....boy howdy he was right ,,,,,very tasty fish ...
