Haven’t been in a while and it’s been hollering, no screaming at me to go. Today was the day for Nino and I to go east. Early conditions were glassy and comfortable aside from the bugs. The first three hours got me zip besides one small trout that popped at my topwater plug. Found Nino and made a move and things got a little better. Still no fish but more activity. Another hour gone and another move made and finally things got interesting. Approached a shoreline that I’ve never fished as the wind started to build. I pitched my jig toward the bank as Nino moved down a little further and got a push behind the jig and he ate. He didn’t eat it completely but the li e came tight, the drag spoke and then he said goodbye. I said some things that I can’t print and went back to business. Not long after that I got another smack and this one stayed connected. Just a little snooklet but good to see him. Name: IMG_4677.jpg

Pictures taken and back he went. Just a couple of casts later this guy couldn’t stand it and chased down the jig and off he went, pulling drag like he was somebody.

And over the next 30 minutes as a storm built along with the wind, these other friends came to visit.

And the fights were something good that I’d forgotten about how tough they really are. This was the best day in the salt for me since 2020, I’ll be smiling for a while. The wind got up to where Ninos Gheenoe was a bit too sporty on the way back and we decided to leave earlier in the bad weather next time. All good and no real issues but it could have been worse. Looking forward to going again soon before things cool down and I’ll post when I do. Til next time……Skeet
