I squeezed thru an opening where I could see the boat...not good...tree hit it so hard the frame is on the ground.. tires, axle and jack pushed into the ground.. and my boat shelter is gone. tree service will use crane to get limbs and trunk off of it next week. I am going to find another project boat and start over. with my issues the work will take a while ..have to start with a boat shelter first. The skiff was 19ft semi V style hull.. hope to find something close to that size and more of a V hull style.

Wow. Glad you're ok but that's a lot of damage. We got hit by that with a ton of rain and hail. Yard flooded but no damage. Hope insurance takes good care of you.

Sorry to hear about the damages Robert. The boat can be replaced as you say, and you may salvage some parts off of it too. I know what it’s like to get one all set up for the way you fish. Slimjim has a trolling motor that may fit your needs. Mostly, I’m glad you and Mom are all OK. Those trees that cross your property line can be removed, albeit at your expense, to help protect your stuff in the future. I’m with yobuck, the mature oaks look nice on someone else’s property and away from mine.

Last year I had a tree crew trim back some overhanging oak branches. The tree that fell onto the boat was further back into the neighbors property. It was really tall and all branches were 60 ft? above the ground... I am in the planning stages of building a new home and barn on another property, I will be selling this place in the next year if everything goes well. Building new home in middle of field away from the large oaks. My parents live 2 miles away and had no damage at their place, I am thankful for that..Father just turned 87. Many people were affected by the storm and what likely was a tornado?

The Oaks are considered sacred here in Vero Beach.
Fortunately our house isnt within the official city limits.
My son is a state licensed building contractor, and has a 4000 sq ft cabinet shop here which isnt in the city limits either.
The block building is/was bordered by about a dozen oaks within about 10’ of the building.
He bought the building 4 years ago, and there are now only 2 of those oaks left.
But they are huge, and they are on the side of the building facing the county jail.
In fact the entire Indian River Sheriffs Dept. is on that side of the building. lol

Size: 108.4 KBTree crew removed the huge oak off of boat shed today. I started removing the shed off of the boat. The tree pushed the trailer tires and swivel jack down into the ground. Trolling motor is destroyed. steps up to front deck also broken. Trailer is bent, one tire blown..but from what I can see the hull looks like it could be repaired. I hope to get a better look at the hull once I finish removing the shed off it. I need to crawl under it and see if the bunks cracked the hull. The tree pushed the boat sideways, you can see the 4x4 chock block I normally back up against..

Wow, hope it all turns out for the best for you. Mother nature is something. Hard to believe it pushed that tire into the ground like that. Pretty wild.

that was a heck of a storm. I thought we were gonna get hit by a tornado any minute. we are on the ne side of ocala..we got golf ball size hail and larger and lots of wind, rain. neighbors down the road had several trees down...we escaped major damage at the house though. our church in Anthony didnt fair so well, lost several windows, and all siding facing south was shredded...
we were letting a friend of ours use my honda crv while hers in the shop, she was in the heavier area too, it got dinged up pretty good too

Due to safety reasons..I have not been able to get under the boat to inspect it for cracks.. From what I see I can repair the splintered gunnel on port side. I can also replace the steps up to the front deck. The trailer is bent and I think the 3500lb axle is also bent along with both tire rims. If hull is not too bad I will be looking for a galvanized trailer. i have looked some but it looks like most manufactures are only making Aluminum trailers.
