    Default Spring/summer

The calendar says spring but the past month or even more it sure has felt more like summer! This has been my first winter of chasing specs here in Florida and it’s been quite the learning curve especially when I ventured out and explored many different lakes such as Garcias , stickmarsh , headwaters , Lake Okeechobee , blue cypress , lake Marian , and lake Kissimmee. All beautiful places to fish and some good days but also a lot skunked days not knowing the lakes hot spots all to well.I probably should have stuck to 1 or 2 lakes and really honed in on learning the fish habits in select lakes but wanting to see all these cool lakes and knowing there all spectacular lakes for specs lead me to explore every weekend. None the less it’s been awesome exploring. To add to the new lakes I got a new boat specifically for crappie fishing ! I plan to keep chasing the crappie through the summer changing tactics and fishing deeper holes but in the meantime I am eager to get on some bluegills and even more so the infamous shellcrackers! Anyone ever fish for them in lake Marian area or anywheres besides lake Kissimmee as I see they haven’t already started slaying them there in the north cove pads. Any insight on any of the panfish would be great! Kind of a vague post just lookin to interact with the community and get out and do some fishing with everyone! God speed everyone and have a great Easter weekend!

Stickmarsh/Farm13 can be a great spot for monster Gills and good numbers. You get into Farm 13 and you can smell the beds. Fellsmere Outdoor Adventures bait shop 36N Myrtle St. Contact them for latest info on Stickmarsh/Farm13. They have a great tackle store and plenty of bait. Tight Lines.

Thanks for the info!!!!I fished stickmarsh a few times around early winter for crappie but wasn’t real successful. I won’t be venturing out there anytime soon since they have lowered the lake 40” so far to achieve lowering it 48” by august to replant vegitation in there. From reports the lake is even more dangerous with all the stumps that are now visible sticking up out of the water. Once this crazy wind settles down I’m going to head back out to either lake Kissimmee north cove area or some where on Lake Okeechobee. As we press on into summer I will probably switch back to targeting crappie in the deeper holes for some summer time Slabs. People think I’m nuts but of all the fish to catch my favorite go to is crappie!!!!
