    Default Diversity definitely delivered

Decided to keep some of the oil magnate's profits in my own pocket by fishing closer to home on a smaller lake(<1000 acres) much closer to home for the past two days. DAY 1(yesterday) was condition perfect with only 5 rigs on lot @9 am(late start). I fished this 75 degree Spring-fed lake about 8 years ago with marginal success with cookie-cutter size Crappie. I purposely try NOT to stay too committed with species/technique/location(Fresh/Saltwater.). I must confess that I got a little COCKY when this guy showed up to assess my parking skills on HIS parking lot!Name: 20230328_083942.jpg

Luckily, yesterday's conditions were able to offer me a better "Shakedown" opportunity. DAY 2(today) was a cloudy/wind-driven challenge. Both days yielded numerous, welcomed rewards. L/lg open-water and mini single-pole casting in pads with 2" twisters(various colors) and 1 3/4" rat-tail shad. W/t was mid-70's for both days, but today was cloudy/blustery CHILLY for Florida. Before I attach Pics, I'll introduce the guest-list...Crappie, Bluegill, Red-belly, Largemouth, Butterball catfish, Turtle(painted) He absolutely nailed that Blue/white twister! Biggest speck today was a pinched-tail(pinched-tail) 14", Bluegill 10.5", Largemouth 4 lbs, the surprise was a Painted-turtle!(I actually had two on @same time!) while playing tug-o-war with yesterday's biggest Speck of 13 1/4". Stud bluegill(today) taped out @10.5" that was caught u/l single-pole(5') casting a 1/32 jig/2' twister(blue/white/silver-sparkle tail. Couldn't have been any more pleased with taday's results/conditions = Limit of Crappie kept(25), 1 Bluegill, 1 Lm. Actually, thought of keeping the good-sized turtle yesterday, but granted him parole.

Thanks for Readin'/Ridin'/Reelin' ~enjoy the pics!-

Square-donuts would have definitely added another positive dimension, but with another 1 hour 15 minute drive each way, I remembered about the Oil Magnate's money I was keeping warm in My Pocket!

Stop using the Crappie-magnets as bait...try the Chick-magnets!

Great job Doug. Whats a Butterball Catfish? You did good so close to home, I'm surprised you travel so far when you do. I have a hard time travelling anywhere when I'm so close to the water here on my "slow catch rate" lake griffin.

Thx. Ed- BB Catties are the smaller(<1#), very yellowish, hard-fighting scappers! I was told of that name often by Florida Crackers...probably a channel cat of sort and distinctive in its yellow-hue coloration. I travel for the well-shouldered, hard-fighting Specks that mature within the influence of the St. John's eco-system. More weight per ounce for sure!
