Can anyone tell me why they are spraying for pads in Kissimmee. And how can they spray them without killing fish ? Last year at this time there was pads everywhere to fish , This year pads are not there and if so very thin and spaced apart .

I suspect they do it to "help" with boat travel and to keep it tourist friendly, I doubt whatever is sprayed on the plants is good for the environment, many of the water vegetation control formulas have copper in them and I also suspect they have unknown carcinogens in them as well.
Have seen Texas ruin several really good lakes by "controlling" vegetation , one spot that USED to have MONSTER coppernose bluegill all over it and HUGE bass until they decided to "control" the pads in there . the upside though is in killing the vegetation there the beautiful clear dark waters , turned the lake into a mudhole FULL of white crappie

Slabz I agree with what is written but it seems that all is not in favor of the fishermen.. for example boat travel is fine in Kissimmee except for the people tourists on airboats, which if you live in Florida and go to lakes there a daily event that go everywhere. But what is going on in Kissimmee is there is places there that was covered in pads and there all gone at this point . And the same thing is happening in hatchinal . Sorry if it seems if a am venting but it is a damn shame this is happening. I am currently changing the way I catch fish there and it is working but I do not see what they are doing for the lake is good for it or healthy for fish or humans that eat fish !!
