Default Anyone in the far west side if the panhandle?

    Got a question or two.
May be moving to that area since my son and family have moved to Pace and we are at the age we need to downsize and get closer to them.
i have always been a crappie fisher. Done some saltwater and some tailwater trout fishing. Probably will get a boat for saltwater, but I will still want to go after crappie some.
Are there many crappie lakes in that end of the state ? Looking on the map I see some up in Century area and around Crestview area that might hold promise. Escambia River?

Thanks, but that would be a pretty good haul from Pace.

Might ask this question on both the Alabama and Georgia board. I have not seen much traffic here on Florida board from that area west of Talquin.

When you say 'lakes' we really don't have one in the west Panhandle. Talquin first and Seminole second are two that hold a lot of crappie, but they are in east Panhandle. In the western part folks depend pretty much on Escambia River and the Choctawhatchee River for half decent crappie fishing.
Across the state line in Alabama are Frank Jackson Park in Opp and Gantt Lake in Andalusia that draw people up there for crappie. Not a long drive at all.
I have a pro crappie friend down in central Florida learning how to fish in mostly in big lakes with 6 ft water and he's struggling. It's a lot different than fishing brush piles in 20 at 25 ft. water back in Kansas.
