Thread: Lingering affect of Toronto

I’m confused. Are you talking about hurricane Ian that went through? Anchorman lives up that way and can tell you better than I can of the recent goings on.

At this point I’m taking about both hurricanes. I have a 3 month trip planned starting December 4. Been doing this for 3 years. I had a local tell me several years ago a hurricane really damage the crappie fishing in the Crescent lake. Is there a chance the water level will be close to normal by December.

Since you will be here for 3 months, why not take some time to explore ?
On the eastern side of the state from Rt 60 north, pretty much everything drains into the St. Johns.
But some of the lakes control the water level with locks or some type of dam.
The water from Stickmarsh, Headwaters, and those lakes further south as well as Citori to the north near Palm Bay are all connected by canals, and can also be drained into the Indian River Lagoon, as well as the St. Johns.
The C 54 canal is a wide canal which runs from a dam at Stickmarsh east about 10 miles crossing under I 95 to a dam where it empties into the upper end of the Sebastion river. Brackish water from that point to the I R Lagoon, with good numbers of the salt water species as well including Tarpon.
So there is no high water to worry about in those lakes or the canal.
There are good launch facilities on the lakes and the C 54 as well as the Sebastian river.
On Tuesdays and Sundays you are permitted to cross over the dam at Stickmarsh in your car.
You can then drive on good sand roads for about 10 miles toward Palm Bay. There are a few good side roads as well.
You will see more water than you can fish in a lifetime, and it dosent show on the maps.
But you can Google it.

Definitely call where you plan on staying at as Dunns creek and all the Saint Johns River area are having high water issues. At the moment the town of Welaka has its ramp and docks closed because of high water but should open soon. Our docks at Riverbend are closed as we’ve had some damage and have to wait to inspect it before anyone uses them. If you put in in Crescent city high water should not be an issue . With this high water I feel fish patterns could be different on Crescent and Dead lake as I fish them as well. If you see an Ohio blue tracker 175tf give me a shout and we can see what works. Downtime I feel like I seen you on dead lake last year . I was in a black Xpress. I will be in a silver Range with power poles this time. If you see me be sure to say hello. I made a call to Georga Boys the day after the storm. He told me you could launch there. Didn’t get any information on. Bull creek ramp

Bull creek ramp has been closed for a while, but I know both public ramps on Crescent are still open
