    Default Orange Lake 10/21/22

Started off early at Lochloosa, lines in the water at 6:50. It was a cool 47° with a light breeze blowing, perfect morning. We thought it was about to get real but we couldn't buy a bite. 8:30 and we called it a loss on that adventure and blasted thru cross creek over to Orange to see if anything was happening over there. We saw boats scattered all over the place but nobody seemed busy catching anything. We started off at the brush in the middle and corkscrewed around working out way northwest across the deeper slough. We we're getting bites sporadically but we're all small fish. Prolly caught about 15 by 11:00 but the cooler was still empty. We finally ran into a wad of em around 12:30 working the shallower edges of the slough, 9-10' was the magic depth. By 1:30 we ran out of minnows and had to call it but we managed 13 keepers out of the countless small ones we caught. There were times we had 4-5 on at a time it was madness. Most of the fish were caught tightlining on pink jighead's w/ minnows but the flashy mylar jigs of all colors had their fair share. Caught a few on longlines using a rainbow trout colored curly tail. Most of the bites were deeper than 4' down to the bottom. It was a long frustrating morning but we had a blast in the last hour and ended on a high noteOrange Lake 10/21/22 Here are the biggins of the dayName: IMG_20221021_124037400_HDR.jpg

I wish, but no it belongs to my partner in crime. There's a chance it might show up at slabfest Orange Lake 10/21/22.

All's well that ends well, succeeding on a tuff morning is always rewarding... sometimes knowing where Not to go, is just as valuable for the next trip.
