Thread: Lake Monroe boat ramp in Deltona

Man, I know that's gotta be tough on the folks that live there.
Sure hope everyone is safe and don't lose everything they have.
Flooding is a horrible thing.

Thanks for the pic Jim. I saw Tv footage of downtown Sanford where the water is over the sea wall and into downtown. Apartment complexes are connected by streams instead of roads. My daughter works for the D O T a and said that this is being classed a 500 year event and that we’ll be carrying flooding issues into next year. If it doesn’t rain much more, then all bets are off.

River conditions report since Ian.
This is from what I’ve seen first hand and from friends that live on it.
Working from south to north.


C.S. Lee boat ramp (between lake Harney and Puzzle lake) is closed. So is portions of SR 46 in the same area.


A friend lives about a half mile north of Harney and the river is at least 3-4 times wider at her place.


I haven’t heard or checked but I suspect the ramps at Lemon Bluff, Mullet Lake Park and Cameron Wright Park are closed too. The road to Mullet looks like it’s closed on the map. Even if they are open the river is idle zone from Lemon to Cameron during flood conditions.


Lake Monroe: Ramp in Enterprise on the north end is probably still under construction and closed. City ramp in Sanford is probably closed too as water is flooding some areas of downtown.
West side of Monroe, Seminole county ramp on the south and Volusia county ramp on the north are closed.
The water is up to the tops of the bridge fenders on the I-4 overpass.


Highbanks ramp is closed.
I live about 500 yards south of it. Our community dock, the water is up to the handrail. The handrail is about 3’ above the dock and the dock is normally about 2’ above the water.
Here’s a picture from Tuesday. It’s up a couple inches from then.


I haven’t been north of here so any reports from other parts north would be helpful to all.


Current is honking. Huge Mats of hyacinths floating down river. We’ve seen palm trees floating as well. I’m sure there are other trees and limbs floating partially submerged as well.
Very few if any boats on the river here.

Ed Stone Ramps are closed. Water is over the staging area and over the seawall along the river.

All I’m sure of is that I need to fish. A road trip may be in my near future. Some clays in the meantime is cool but I’m going through withdrawals, shaking and the thousand yard stare are normal lately.

I started a new cast net to keep my mind off of fishing. It should take me 4 or 5 months to finish. I hope the water is down by then.

Sadly, too many people are having to get the river out of their homes, still, so they can get back to thinking about fishing. Prayers are needed for all affected and those dealing with the aftermath of hurricane Ian.
