Sounds like an awesome trip
Pre-fished for a Bass Tournament on March 5th at Blue Cypress Lake. Observed some steady catches of large crappie on the North West corner of the lake.
We caught some small bass in the 1.5 to 2.0 pound range. Caught some large mudfish also. My fishing partner hooked a monster bass that smoked his reel and the bass came unbuttoned at the side of the boat before I could get the net on her. Each time he tells the story the bass gets bigger so I won't be a part of his story and guess the weight of the lost trophy. Blue Cypress Lake is beautifully lined with old cypress trees.
Very peaceful trip. This lake is quite remote and I plan to go back and do some crappie fishing here real soon.

Stopped in at Middleton’s several years ago and hoped to get back to fish the lake one day. Beautiful lake. Hope you had a good tournament.

I'll be down and camping at Middleton's in 2 weeks.
Jean sold the place to Roy Bass a few of years ago after the Mister passed away. We tent camp there and head over and fish Stick Marsh, Garcia and Kennansville. We are anxious to get on the new Headwaters or Fellsmere Lake this year.
We mainly bass fish but aren't opposed to catching some nice crappie or copperheads.
How is the water level and temp?

Water level was a little low but should be up now with recent rains. This lake has some really large bass in it. The largest bass during tournament practice came in the grass on either side of the M canal. Water temp should be perfect for a great bass fishing trip after our recent rains. Plum colored plastic worms seemed to be the ticket. Also landed some bass on a black and blue chatter bait. Tight Lines.

There is also a nice fish camp with rooms and camping at lake Marian near Kennansville as well.
Lake Marian paradise fish camp. 407 436 1464.
Just turn left at the store at Canoe Creek road and go about 5 miles, turn left on Arnold rd.
Also further out Canoe Creek rd and back a good dirt road is Lake Jackson.
Good ramp and dock, but small and very remote, like Kennansville very few people go there.
Large area with lots of wildlife.

Thank you for the info on Jackson yobuck. Looks like our kind of place. Remote, no people and a campsite to throw the tent if needed. I'm leaving Ohio tonight around midnight. I prefer night driving with nobody on the highway
