I have found that for brim and crackers, grass shrimp on a small gold hook with a split shot above fished with out a cork dipping in the pads works well.

I always fish Florida crappie in the winter, what do you use for the Bluegill aka Crackers? and is there a better season for them?

I'm guessing a light long shanked Cricket hook would work, I will try to get some grass shrimp. I haven't noticed mainly because I don't use minnows much, but do most Fl bait shops carry grass shrimp? any advise on how to keep them? thanks
Not too many bait shops carry grass shrimp. I have a long handle net that I bought from Rural King, find eel grass and run the net around and trough the grass. The shrimp are very small and almost translucent but the crackers, brim and specs can’t refuse them. Best time for cracker and brim here at lake Harris is early March.

Lakeside Bsit in Tavares sells grass shrimp when they can get them.

That’s true but the owner says they only sell them during brim season, they make more off minnows during spec season.
