I saw a Macy's Day Parade(Thanksgiving) float sitting amidst the shoreline hydrilla. The unmasked spectators waited patiently(we got here 1st bud) as I got some shots before leaving their buffet! The 1.5 hr. St. John's trip started flawed from the start when I discovered that my small, treasured 4 x 6" BG armament box was still home, probably feverishly waving and chanting "we're over here dummy"! Realistically, I pack an all day bag of food/drinks(some cooked before leaving) Fortunately, I had a few lures/poppers to help salvage the day. Coolest Gladiator encounter was a wide-bodied, attitudinal redbelly with apparent camera shyness. I wish they got to be lb. +s, I think... Only 5 specks were caught(1 keeper 11"), 2 gar on a 4 wt. flyrod 6/7 bream family, and 5 schoolies(1-2 lb bass) that were periodically chasing small shad w/o jigheads attached. Winds picked up to 20+ throughout the day but still enjoyed the venue of the day and the Parade "float"! More, smaller gators(dark side up) were witnessed throughout the day. -'til next time- "tight lines/chilled drinks/camera battery-life".
