typically associated with our seasonal temp drop but are the harbinger of Stellar fish activity in both the fresh & saltwater venues. Yesterday's SW trip was only fractionally seasoned by that, but moreover flavored by the intel gathered just 2 days prior plus tide/weather forecast/low boat #s. My 3rd cast "Bonfire kindling" was assigned to a feisty, well-shouldered 18" Snook that was released. Awaiting just 7 casts later was big trout of the day that measured a freckle under 20"=GB's on the rise! At this point, I realized that a decision was needed as to what level I was to "set the bar". Feeling the pump of the early results and knowing FL's 5 fish/15" I decided to reach for the stars @18" minimum=NICE trout folks. My mindset(5 yr. old's 2nd visit to the candy store) was positively massaged throughout my non-stop, artificial-only casting workout. Many rewards were gained although nice fish were being sent home because of a disappointing eye disease = too close to tail!!
Added a new-to-me bullet to my ammo box named Dedly Dudley Mauler shrimp
WARNING: Do not lay it down in kitchen, you will bacon-wrap & skewer for sure. Trout/ladyfish HATED being fooled by this time after time=Nice bait for sure. Lost a few monsters before visual yesterday, but that's quite OK- I had my 5 that met my standard plus fun to catch/eat Ladyfish(aka babycakes)
Also, put to rest the Millenium seat strap PITA =Gave an elderly neighbor 3 trout which after giving him some babycakes to sample last week, prompted "any ladyfish"? Gladly gave him/wife 3 to enjoy. No reds caught yesterday to elevate the "fever" I obviously had
'til we meet again-
