Looks like you guys had a lot of fun. Sooo are they good to eat?
Today I got to have the pleasure of having Skeetbum on my boat. He had once mentioned that he would like to see what I do when I go after sunshine bass. So this morning we were able to get together and hit the river.
I got there early and got the boat launched. while I waited for my guest to arrive, I moved out into the river to see if I could catch some bait for us. Nothing on the fish finder and a few test throws with the cast net came up empty. The sun still had not come up and it was hard to see, but I thought that I saw a shadow over on the dock. It was Skeet sitting there waiting for me to see him. We load up his stuff on my boat and head out. The sun still was not up.
We headed down to my secret spot. It was just starting to have a little light that we could see by. As we pulled up we saw some action along the shore so we moved in and I made a throw with the net. We got bait ! not much, but something to work with. I make a second cast and get a few more. I was hoping that it was going to be enough. We move over to my spot and get set up.
I showed Skeet how I rig my rods and how I work the water. He makes a cast. The next thing I hear is " fish on "! That did not take him long at all. On the next cast, I join in on the fun.
I told him that my personal best for this year was a 17" sunshine bass. I have been getting at least one good size fish each trip so far this year and I was looking for an 18 incher from him today.
It did not take us long to run out of the few bait that we caught this morning. So we switched over to some hard baits and kept working the area.
Before we knew it , we started to see other boats come by. by then the action was slowing to a stop. We checked the time and decided to head in. It was 8:30 !
We boated 10 nice sunshine bass for the day. Not counting the one that Tim lost right at the boat or the bass that he let go.
The big fish of the day was an 18 incher
and it was caught by none other than the master himself.
another good day at the office !

I don’t know about this master stuff but I sure enough had a great time. They sure give the drag a workout. Thanks for showing me how, even this old dog can learn a new trick with the right teacher.

Haven’t been out with Phil for a long while and neither of us wanted to stay out long and we both rise early. Went back to yesterday’s scene and was done by about 8. Traffic heavier than yesterday and the fish not quite as cooperative, but Phil got his first and I got one on a fly. Wow on both counts. Drdore (Sam) tied this and sent it to me and it worked fine, and Phil couldn’t get over the tenacity of these fish. Thanks again Jim, probably be a while before I get to go anywhere, and this fit the bill. All still there waiting for you.
