Any recommendations if my wife and I could head south for a week or 2? It’s about 9 hours to Lake Talquin, 12 hours to DeLand area of St. Johns, and 13 hours to the Lake Wales area of Kissimmee. Are there other areas to consider? I have a couple of friends in the Lake Wales area to help me get started in the right area to locate crappie! We have a RT188C and are set up to spider rig, I can bring my crankbait pulling rods to pull jigs and we like single poling. We aren’t interested in cleaning hundreds of fish but like to catch decent fish. I’ve looked at Airbnb’s and prefer something on the water.

May all the fish tales you catch be longer than the ones you tell !
I like the Astor area for what you describe. Lots to do both there and within a short drive. Read some of the other posts in the FL board and you’ll get to hear from so folks doing just what you and I are talking about. Good luck and enjoy, wherever you wind up.
Creativity is just intelligence fooling around
Talquin is definitely your shorter drive and there are some quality fish there, but the bite has been real slow there the past month. I'm sure it will pick back up but just don't know when. The St. Johns River around the Astor area would probably be your best bet as of right now.Like Skeetbum said, lots of areas to fish from there. Woodruff, Dexter and Lake George is just a short boat ride and the river itself has some pretty good fishing....Good Luck!!
Lake Wales area doing real good right now all I knowSent from my SM-N960U using Crappie.com Fishing mobile app

We don't have many active members that fish the Kissimmee chain/area, only a couple. Have a bunch more that fish the St Johns system.
I think you'd likely find what you want at either location. I will say that with the wind we've had this year, the St Johns has a lot more protected areas you can fish than Kissimmee.
Heck try one this year and another next year.
I heard 3nd hand Kissimmee was going good Sent from my SM-N960U using Crappie.com Fishing mobile app
