I tried Lake Manatee last night. Set up with minners just off the bridge. Not much activity the first 30 minutes but then a rod goes off. It bends then it bends, then it bends some more. Zing goes the drag. Dang it, it's gotta be a catfish. I finally get the fish up to the surface after what seems forever, it's dark but I can see the general shape of the fish as it's on its side. I recognize that shape. It's a hybrid. 3 pounder. On a 12 ft jig rod what a fight. A few minutes later down goes another rod, then another. Not much crappie action but what a blast.
