After not being on the water for the past few days, I made it out this morning. I got a late start but was still on the water by 7am. It was cool and a slight breeze out of the north. The lake was calm and there were two boats at the ramp when I pulled in.
I launched and went to start the motor. Nada , nothing. I checked the lights. Nope , no power. I check the trolling motor ( separate battery ). It was fully charged. I looked out in the lake and saw the boats clustered just a 1000 ft off shore. I dropped the trolling motor and headed out.
As I trolled out, I set the rods. There were only two boats out by the sign. I was planning on falling in behind them as they circled the sign.
It was slow going for me this morning. The first few fish were throw backs but then I landed one that was of keeper size. Not large but still a good size fish. I put him in the box.
I stayed close to the sign and in sight of the ramp all morning. The rods didn't go off often, but they were going off. More throw backs than keepers. I wanted to get at least three keepers to round off the bag of fish I was donating to the slab fest. I looked at the counter, I had 4 keepers in the box.
I looked around and was surprised by all the boats around . There were at least 10 boats close by that I counted. I'm lucky if I get to see 2 or 3 boats out there during the week.
The wind slowed down and so did the bite. I headed in. It was a cool morning, overcast, and calm. The rods bent and I added fish to the box. It was time to go home and check out why my battery went dead.
another good day at the office !
