Slimjim, I believe you have a slight fever some call crappie-i-ish...good to see you working all area's of the lake...congrad's on the PB
I usually do not go out on the weekends. I leave the lake to those that can not get out during the week. But last night Les asked if I would go out this morning. So why not ? I meet him at the ramp around 7:30 . A little later than I like to get there. To my surprise , It was not filled up. I arrived fist, so I directed traffic for the other boaters as they crossed the road to the ramp while I waited for Les to get there with his boat.
Once we got on the water, we headed over to our happy hunting grounds. Les has some new tricks he wanted to show me. We set up and went to work setting out the rods. Les struck first but it was a LDR (long distance release ) . My rod goes off next and we boat our first fish. We make two passes around the area and things started to slow down. ( we were also catching a lot of small ones ) . We head to the other side of the lake.
Over on this side of the lake we have company, but we keep our distance so as not to crowd the other boaters. We are on our second sweep of the area when one of my rods takes a deep bend. I grab the rod and Les grabs the net ! The rod bends and bulls to the bottom. That fish does not want to come close to the boat. I'm thinking a cat fish. I put some extra effort into the rod and the fish comes to the surface , It's not a cat ! A 14 inch slab comes on board ( my personal best for this season so far ).
It's getting late and the wind is starting to pick up. We point the boat towards the ramp but work our way in staying a bit closer to the shore.
We are almost to the ramp when one of the trailing rods goes off. Les no sooner boats the fish when the other rod goes off. The first rod goes back in the water and we work the other rod. We boat that one and the first rod goes off again. We work back and forth between the two rods. We had hit on a school of sunshine bass and they were tearing up the gigs on those two rods. We boated 10 small sunshine bass before we cleared the school.
We got to the ramp as the Sunday crowd was starting to build.
10 fish made the ride home. Les donated his to the slab fest
All in all it was a good day with a good friend. Thanks Les for asking me out.

A good trip, even though I didn’t see y’all. I didn’t wake up til 7 so it was after 8 when I started. First fish was a throwback but the second made up for it. Took a while to get him in. Took home six, big one about a pound and a quarter. Glad y’all got enough to stink up the grease a bit. Tell Les I said thanks for his contribution.
