Managing hydrilla in the Harris Chain of Lakes (HCOL) is the topic of a public meeting hosted by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC). The meeting is in Tavares on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Tavares Civic Center, 110 E Caroline Street.
The focus of this meeting is to gather input and feedback from stakeholders about future hydrilla management activities on the Harris Chain of Lakes (HCOL). Public input from a wide variety of user groups on the HCOL, which includes Lake Harris, Little Lake Harris, Lake Eustis, Lake Griffin, Lake Dora, LakeYale and Lake Beauclair, is critical to create a well-balanced approach to managing hydrilla.
The meeting will begin with a short presentation on current conditions and proposed treatment areas, followed by an open house forum and period for public comment. The public will have the opportunity to discuss their ideas one-on-one with FWC biologists during the open house period of the meeting.
