NATURAL CORK FLOATS

Years ago, all the baitshops in my area of Florida, had a line of cane pole friendly items.
Among them was 2 natural cork items. The first, was a hook keeper. It was a round disk, of cork, with a covering of chromed tin, with a hole in the center. You attached it to your pole, with the small diameter spring, attached to it. You stuck your hook, through the hole, into the cork.
I think I still have the remnants of one, somewhere...
The second was a torpedo shaped cork float. I think Betts made them (not sure). They had a brown, cotton thread loop through them. Two tags on one end, going through the cork, forming a loop, and back through (the two tags). The thread was secured with a thin white, paper band, with the name on it
To use, you inserted your line, through the loop, and pulled the tag ends. It became a slip float. It held the line good enough, when they were new, to adjust up and down, with no bobber stop.
The corks came in about three lenghts, 3/4, 1.5, and 2 inch. They were smaller around the center, than a dime.
Does anyone have a line on the floats, in natural cork? I'm pretty sure, the hook holder, is a gonner....

I haven't seen them in years. Really liked the natural cork fishing wild shiners for bass. Didn't seem to bother em as bad.

I bought some small balsa floats from bps a while back, natural thill, that were pricey and didn’t do what I was looking for. Shy bite and tiny shy bite I think was the name. I haven’t noticed any cork floats worth comment for quite a while. If I do I’ll either get a supplier or just get a few. What size you after?

I was looking for the small ones Skeet, bout 3/4 long. I used the golf ball sized ones too, HS, with shiners, back in the day.
I found some nice little foam ones, for jigging, made by trout magnet .I also have tried the shy bites. Thill doesn't seem to want to keep the rubber sleeves on the shelf, for replacements. The other thing I like is real quills. They are a little long, for dipin, small spots, though, but man are they camo fishing in the cane.
Just not the same, talking a piece of styrofoam under!
Just love watching the cork go down. Guess that's why I like jig poleing, reminds me of bug poles....

Those are very close! I went to Betts, catalog, they have "Billyboy" floats. Has a picture of the float i'm looking for, with two guys fishing, on the cover.
But they don't carry the float

I got 50 for 24.95 with free shipping the other day on Ebay. These were the 2.5 inch. I hang them up and repaint them yellow. ( my silly superstition). I believe they are called Carolina corks.
