My neighborhood. Kinda middle of everything and lots of ramps close. Salt about an hour away if you got the urge.
If one lived on the St John's river where would be the best place

Almost anywhere in central Florida north of Rat Town is nice. Stay away from Rat Town, drugs, crime, and high costs. Lots of nearby lakes north of there though.

My .02 is north of a lake George..good fishing for crappie, bass, catfish, summer shrimping, crab...
Can catch redfish, flounder, tilapia, croakers, stripers, hybrids
I considered everywhere from Sanford up before I bought a weekend place in Satsuma off Dunns Creek....just more options for fishing to me....only about 45 min to 31st Augustine too

I grew up on it in the River Dale racy point area, marker 33 for reference. River is wide in that area but water is brackish on the bottom so u can catch reds trout and flounder and shrimp as well as bass, bream and cats from the same dock. Nice area, no riff Raff, St.Auggie is 30 minutes

It's getting more crowded every year on my section of the river. (north of Monroe) My son just bought a house on lake George next to the new boat launch they are putting in near Pierson. I thing I'll be fishing George more in the future. I asked him if I could move in with him.................. Boat dock on a canal, not many houses or people, nice big old oak trees all around.........I think I'm jealous

Debary, Orange City or Deland would be my vote. About 10-15 minutes to Monroe, 30-45 minutes to Harney or Astor, hour or so to Crescent and Harris Chain, and 45 minutes or so to coast.
