Like every place else, when you visit Florida to fish, you pays your money and takes your chances.
Fished out of Indian Prarie today, caught 8 in about 5 hours. Nothing notable during a normal year, but it's my best find so far this week.

Jigged around Indian Prarie area yesterday for a few hours, caught one. Water temp was 78. Did catch several bass, though.

Talked to my uncle a few minutes ago & he said they are struggling. Hope it get straightened out soon. I bought my ticket yesterday & will be there in Feb. Can't wait....
I think it may pick up when the water temp gets down. They keep dropping it, you may not be able to get a boat to the cover by then!
Sure hoping something changes and soon. We're due back the 30th this month, but not gonna make the trek if it's still as sucks as it was in December.
What about the grass on the south end of Okeechobee, is it gone there to, has anyone been crappie fishing around the south east area of the lake, would love to know my friend and I are coming there next Sunday the 13th for a week or so depending on how the fishing is. Thanks in advance for any info, from anyone that wants to share any.

I haven't fished south of the Monkey Box. I can't find any weeds other than bullrush and an occasional pad. Buddy went to Monkey Box today and struck out jigging. I fished a canal and got 8. It's pretty poor, I'm headed north to fish some this week. I'd love to try the St. Johns somewhere for a day, but have no idea about river fishing.

Assuming your coming up from Okeechobee, the closest place to launch on the river would be on rt 192 (Melbourne). About 1 1/2 miles west of the I 95 exit, (Camp Holly) on the left as you head west. It is a private ramp, not bad, but no dock, and there is a small fee. I would (not) be heading south on the river after you launch, as it tends to be very shallow In many areas and you (will) have problems without the right boat and some knowledge of the area.
But to the north you wont go more than a mile before you reach lake Washington, and others further north.
There is another public ramp on Lake Washington, but it isn't as easy to get to for you as the one I mentioned, and tends to get busy.
