Glad you found some cover and fish. This time of year it’s feast or famine with Crescent and the wind. Thanks for the report and hope you get a few more before returning home.
Hit the water about 930. It’s a half hour from campground I’m at in Astor.
Started by the island after a half hour and no bites and big waves went to canal at dead lake
As soon as all eight rods were out I had a fish. Ended up with seven or eight total. One was 12” others were about 9”.
Second time on lake and I’m not from Florida
Was pulling hot grubs on 1/16 ounce pico plain ball head jigs. I’m not ready for doubles. The singles got hung up enough. I was able to pull the majority out
A color popsicle or glow pop was best a chartreuse tail with purple pink body. Got one fish each on brown body chart tail and black body chart tail.
Wind was strong in canal but fishable. Water 65 to 67
Best trolling speed was .8 or .9. I had 6 and 8 lb line on. Depths of 9 to 15 were good
I tried casting shore with jig and Bobber with no luck cover looked amazing though
