Great post! Thanks Skeet!
Good forecast and low winds made it hard to say no. Dropped in about 6:45 and ran to my favorite little hidey hole. The river was back down within it’s banks but could still stand to go down a bit more for my liking. Lots of floating weeds also made me happy. Things started a bit slow but by 7:30 I was getting busy. I was pitching the tiny stuff I’ve spoken of before so it was a mixed bag of small bass, Warmouth, redbreast, bluegill and crappie. On 2lb gear they were all fun. Up2specks called and the fish didn’t mind that I was busy talking with him while they beat the fire out of my tiny little jig. Several of the Warmouth were oversized and one was clearly a pound plus. They were all relating to wood today with no takers in between the blow downs. We’ve had a good hatch of bass, all of the ones I caught were 6” cookie cutters of one another. Wanted to try someplace else so I rode off and found that half of the places i wanted to go weren’t above water level yet. Soon.... I tried dipping and got a few crappie but nothing up to what I was looking for, so I went back to the small stuff. And it paid off. Started pitching to what would be my last spot and it had some deeper water. Got the thump and the drag slipped. This is right where I wanted to be. Had to retie and got back in and picked up a couple more, size steadily increasing. The last one I caught was well over a pound and 13plus inches. The last 20 minutes I was there I was visited by a Manatee that had to be 8’ long, just munching on the Hiacynth that had blown in. 10’ and less away, I always like to see them. Hope yall get out soon, they’re back........Skeet.

Glad you got in 1 more week day trip, with your known passion for light tackle before possible returning to work.... don't like to mention the latter, but would mean a clean bill of health from the Doctor & some what of a return to normal day to day activities, see ya OTW soon!
