Long time lurker, figured I ought to start posting. Been fishing for 60 years (Holy hell!) moved to Dunedin from south Jersey (Western Pa. before that). In Pa. I fished crappie, bass, trout and walleye. South Jersey was mostly bass and saltwater. Fished a lot of years in NY state for crappie, walleye, smallies and salmon. Been kayak bass fishing around here. Anyway finally completely settled and getting my 16' aluminum 25hp out on Tarpon tomorrow morning. Anyone fish Tarpon? Any suggestions, hints, would be truly appreciated, Florida crappie is brand new to me. Not looking for specific spots, just general info on patterns this time of year, like I said Florida is a new animal for me.
Thanks!
Mike

If you trolled in NY do the same thing in Tarpon. If you have a map that shows the depth try around the deeper holes. Deeper holes here won't be as deep as NY. 8-15' normal here. NW area off the grass line.
Wear your PFD!!!!!
This is the day the Lord hath made, rejoice and be glad in it.

Check the florida crappie club logs, they fish lake tarpon once or twice a year and usually post solid techniques.
Welcome to Florida Crappie Fishing. I think you will enjoy it.
another good day at the office !
You know there is some epic inshore saltwater fishing all around you as well correct?
Thanks guys! Was out today on the north end, lots of wind and a goose egg. Saw one boat trolling, didn't see them catching, another appeared to be drifting. My buddy who's visiting from NJ will be with me again tomorrow. We'll figure it out, especially with your pointers. huntinslabs, yes. Been catching various grouper and snapper. May go after flounder soon. But, I'm a freshwater guy at heart

We fished there last weekend for the Florida crappie club tournament.
We pulled 1/16 oz jigs and pink/chartreuse bodies about 60 ft behind the boat at 1.1 mph and we caught about 45.
Wind was blowing about 10 mph out of the North so we trolled North to south then pulled em in and ran back North to do it over again.
Lots of 3/4 to 1 pound fish in that lake.
