Wow, wonder what the heck it is and what caused it!
Took a walk to the edge of Little Lake Harris, and what do i see????
A LARGE MASS OF FLOATING GREEN MATTER.
This mass covers over one third of the surface. I can see where boats have crisscrossed thru the mass.
Don't know what BIG LAKE HARRIS looks like, not a mess that I want to launch the boat into.
No idea how long before the mass sinks.
Algae bloom?

They looked like pics from the now or neverglades email I got, definitely green algae. Hydrilla is unmistakeable and it only takes one lesson to leave it alone. It grows mostly where the sun can reach the bottom, I think, because it isn’t found in deeper water. Bad for us that most of our lakes are shallow. Used to bass fish the deep water edges with crankbaits, great fun to watch the fish dart out of the weeds and hit the crank.

What a shame! Wasn't that way years ago. Spent a lot of vacation time with my parents at Howey Boat Basin.
