That lake can get really nasty fast from the winds, many times i could not wait to get to back to the ramp in bad weather out there. i wonder what size boat it was. thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends. very sad.

Prayers for the families involved. So sad. It only takes a couple seconds to put on your life jacket. Do it for your family it might stop them from having to go threw this.

Terrible! Praying for the family. We are all focused on catching. this is a reminder that this is dangerous environment we play in. I noticed it was said they left at 8pm. So they were night fishing. Also from the video that looks to be at least a 16’ fiberglass boat which should handle some rough water. Hopefully they didn’t hit something while running. Sad day.

Sad ending to this one. A very stark reminder of how bad Monroe gets at times.

While my boat is only a 14fter, I do know what it can and cannot handle very well and have been out there on days most of you would've turned around.

Because of that I've purposefully ran to the wrong ramp on more than one occasion as conditions deteriorated to let a smaller craft follow behind. I know I have saved at least one individuals life with something as simple as burning an extra gallon or two of fuel, and that individual later thanked me with the words "I dont want to know if I would've made it or not". (A 12ft john boat does not belong in 4ft seas)

I do not condone this unless you are fully aware of both your capabilties AND what your vessel can handle in regards to rough weather.

I certainly feel bad for them fellas, at 72 & 73 yrs old I definitely would not have been there at night without a PFD ON. I can only imagine how long it must have felt like

clinging to the bow of that boat all night long and wondering where you buddy was. Terrible outcome for sure.
The finest gift you can give to any fisherman is to put a good fish back, and who knows if the fish that you caught isn't someone else's gift to you?"

The news finally had the survivor was on the news telling his story. A wave filled the boat with water and it sank. I tried to find the clip online but had no luck finding it yet. He said his friend started to drift away from the boat and yelled back to him to stay with the boat. (good advice) He tied a rope to the boat to make a seat and even fell asleep a couple times during the nite. Very sad story, his friend died doing what he loved...fishing.
