Good to see you again Doug and meet the crew. Also known as our future. From the sounds of it they’re already on board. Looking forward to the next time also, and to heading your way one day soon. Many thanks for the invite. Soon.......
Chuck would have been proud of the showing!! RIP in Crappiegates... Great show of faces both old & new...cudos and gratitude for the same, it seems, labor providers for our many slabfest gatherings over the years=Mike, John & Shu. Attendees that helped provide the fixins that we all seemed to enjoy very much, and especially like to give thanks to Danny(Phantom 309) for his efforts and contributions over the years. Folks, here is a guy that accepts slabfest fish donations, takes em home filets em freezes em & provides em for us! Then...makes countless shrimpin trips cleans em freezes em and provides these St. John's river delicacies for us to enjoy. Boiled/seasoned HOT(again, by our labor providers) the day of our fest. This is way outside the box! Thanks again Danny.
My crew of two-Reilly(18) & Zach(20), have never fished for specks=self-proclaimed pro Bass chasers/experts, lol, were amazed at how we could, most of the time, keep tangles at bay ie- except for the mini-submarine that made a quick release @the net. Reilly so much wanted to do a photo shot with snaggle-tooth! 32 on the counter but tourney quality evaded us. Big fish was just over a pound. Several fin-spine sticks were encountered plus one impromptu mishap@ ramp boat retrieval, yielded a nasty slippery fall, when I attempted, stupidly, to throw a balled up hoody(yep hoody) from boat to truck when it race car parachuted to water's edge. in an attempt to keep it dry, an Olympic quality effort was witnessed/scored. Luckily, Zach had no exposed bones or blood transfusions needs. Excruciating pain was lessened with bagged ice on a noticeably swollen right thumb, hopefully no chipped or broken areas. Thanks Danny for the liquid "pain meds". Reilly thanked Zach for trying to keep his hoody dry(I still can't believe he wore it for the 1st hour!!)
Now, both are saving toward first crappie rigs!! Furnished them w/bag full of iced-down eaters(20) to engage in their cleaning/eating efforts, hah. I kept 5 for my table.
Oh yeah, when are we going again?? These boys really enjoyed the Crappie.com organized camaraderie and I know the "seed" has been planted.
Another stellar event, sorry for the unable to attend member/guests.

Good write up ! Sorry about the slip & fall, hope the thumb is alright. Looking forward to the next meet and a chance to get to know more people.
It was nice meeting you. I'll be looking for you out on the water.

Yessir, after further reflection on yesterday's experience, Chuck always had the "yunguns" within his protocol and easily yielded his tutelage and would provide free fishing trips for them in a heartbeat. The interesting thing about this story is that my fishing dentist Carlos who was originally slated to team up, cancelled, because of an early Gators game of which he is a grad and season ticket holder. He even asked me (straight-faced) to go?!!! Sorry Doc, no choice there!! Then, after several unsuccessful fill-in invitations, I thought of the young men. I think CHUCK helped this happen for HIS EVENT!
