Thanks for that info skeetster....I do something similar....I push 8 lines off the front of the boat.... This gives me the go back through em move. Probably got about 30' of line on each reel.... No casting... just loosen the bail and drop em to the depth I want. Got a 3/4 oz swivel weight....then 18" drop line to a 1/16 jig head. I run anywhere from .7 to 1.2 mph.
If I have someone in the back seat I do the same off back with 6 poles or if they want to pull...I just have them reel up when I make a turn. Just never got use to those BIG WIDE TURNS...

We push 8 rods off the bow the shortest being 16 foot and a couple of 20' rods. My #1 rod straight out the front is 7.2 meters how ever long that is. Never could understand that metric thing. I was able to see the jigs in the water today with the LiveScope so could tell the amount of blow back. 3/8oz weight at 1 mph. Tom doesn't like those wide turns so we quit pulling now he spins the boat around in it's own length. Gets you back on the fish quicker but I think it spooks them also after a few passes. Don

I haven’t tried it but I would imagine that weight could be fooled with to achieve separation in length like 1/2, 1/4, and 1/8 allowing more distance from the boat. If this doesn’t help someone I hope it gives food for thought for going out side the box and comfort zone.

That was my secret at Crescent....1st few times there only admired everyone else's catch, til weighting my longlines down & started to see better results.....saving the tightlining for when I grow up... still enjoy the fight back to the boat too much.....

I'm in this for the fight of the fish alone. I keep a few crappie, but the random gar/bass/ or catfish has me intrigued for my 1lb test rigs.

Is there any way to get them more often? (I know you guys cant stand em, but i like the fight)

Go up the Wekiva river and check all the sloughs with standing water. Usually filled with gar. Back in the lake at end of Debary creek by Gemini is loaded too. Lures made from cotton rope unraveled works great, no hook needed just tangles all in their teeth.
