Default George's Lake, hot weather slow bite

Tom and I moved our Wed trip back to George's Lake today. Started pushing jigs at first light and had some double hook ups but managed to lose the second fish while netting the first one. We landed a dozen but half was under our slot. I spent most of the morning learning my new LiveScope. Cool watch fish come up and take a jig. Not so cool when they swim up take a look at leave. Reminds me a lot of ice fishing watching fish swimming around the bait but not taking it. We did have a couple of times when I could see 5 to 8 fish swim to the jigs and we hooked up. It is a little disheartening to see them dive for the bottom when the boat gets with in 25 feet of them.

Today was the first time fishing the lake that we seen another crappie boat. Two guys were fishing minnows under corks and appeared to know the lake. I say that as they were right on top of our favorite mark.

It was very hot later in the morning as the little breeze there was died so we pulled up rods and went to look under some docks with the LiveScope. Checked 4 docks saw no fish but could count the pilings. Don
I don't mind sharing where I caught my fish.
Most was caught in their mouth.

Thanks. They have to be 12" and we haven't had to worry about a upper limit. I don't keep fish as my live in girl friend say no fried fish, and if they aren't fried I don't want them. Raised of fried fish in lard. Tom keeps enough for a meal for him and his wife. I have seen a few 11" fish go in his box to make a meal as George's Lake hasn't been producing many big fish for us and I guess a man has to eat. Don

Thanks for the report. It's nice to have a slot to work with. I remember when Lake Monroe had a 12 " min. limit on it. They said that it was to help increase the over all size of fish in the lake. I think it worked. I also try to set a personal bag limit of either 6 or 9 fish. ( I don't enjoy cleaning them as much as I do catching them).

another good day at the office !

Jim.... You're right about the 12" fish on Monroe....late 90's....it worked..... a couple of years after that 15" fish were common. I'm with you on the take home limit too.... actually 5 is mine....

It was good to meet you and Tom at the Monroe tournament, a couple of weeks ago. Sounds like you're making the transition quite well.

We enjoyed meeting everyone there. I am sure we will do the tournaments in our area we got to get those 5 done as Crescent and Dead Lake is our favorite fishing hole. Don
