    HELP! is my fish a white or black crappie?? lol, actually a carp i caught longlining a jig on lake talquin florida near harvey mill creek. took a long time to get it in. they are a tough fish. it was on my 16 foot crappie maxx rod. Name:  carp.jpg

    That would put a big bend in the rod. I would think I had a stump.
    I plan to come up next week would you mind telling me if the Crappie are starting to spawn or have spawned.

    some have spawned some have spawned and come out of the shallows. some are still spawning, maybe more than some.

    I'm yet to catch one of those while trolling down here. Here's a video of one of our "other" catches from last spring. This is on the St Johns just out from Dexter. Please excuse my girls language if you watch! She gets a little excited.

    Filet each side off, leave skin and scales on and cut into 1" cubes. Baited many trotlines in Louisiana with them.
