    Default Tough Day

Took a neighbor friend with me while I checked out what the trolling bite might generate. Should have mowed the grass. Up the west side, most of the way to the OPP and then turn south southeast toward downtown Sanford. Probably trolled 5 or 6 miles and only got 3 gar pulls. The only fish I could find was picking around the railroad bridge, one at 5 inches and his cousin at 7 inches. Back home around noon, I'm going to have to hear something better from down that way before I go back again. I know the bite will come on as it cools in a few weeks/months but it's tough out there right now.

Dont feel bad. Put about 45 miles on my boat in the atlantic yesterday total and only thing to show for it is leftover bait in my freezer and a broke trolling motor. Probably the last time I venture into federal waters. Dont mind the reefs about a mile off the beach and inlet but the offshore stuff is long boatrides if nobody home. Thermoclines at 50' and divers reporting 48° water below the thermocline. Nobody home everywhere we went. Did hear that all was well in 180' but I dont have that much range comfortably for me.

Tried the lake myself yesterday. Went to vertical jigging by the bridge. Started off with an 11 inch speck then nothing. Moved over to the pads and catch some bluegills. Slow day out there. Next time we'll get them!!

another good day at the office !

Sounds like the full moon was rough on everyone. Bad reports across the board for the most part, salt and fresh

Full moons either hunting or fishing have always been tough for me. Much prefer 7-10 days after a full moon.

Yup, I'm getting more and more to the point of not wasting my time. 2-3 days before the full is good, and 5-7 after seems less apt to be a waste of time.

Keep saying I'm going to start keeping a log again.

I kinda knew better than to expect much but I had to get Phil out as he had finally gotten his license. The good part is, there's nowhere to go but up from here.

Haven't been,, due to a school remodel. I have been seeing deer after daybreak, the last few days, and thought things might be on. But, sounds like nope!
Way hot out there by 9:00 AM. A month or so might swing things around...

    No harm in trying.
