    Default Choctawhatchee river fishing?

Does anyone have info on fishing this river for brim or crappie? Live in panama city beach and looking at launch west of Ebro!

    thanks Quickhook!

Yes. I live close to the northern stretch of the river up around hwy2. I have fished the Ebro section before dropping minnows in treetops in the back lakes off the main river.

Fish Walton lurks around this forum some times. He is your man. He knows that lower stretch of the river well.

Haven't checked crappie.com in several days, but found your post this morning. Glad to help you if I can. I'm on the lower Choctaw a good bit and good weather is coming up over the next several days. Also, the river is in pretty good shape but will also be getting better over the next week or two.

Incidentally, you will find more help on the Pensacola Fishing Forum in the freshwater section. More posters are there for this neck of the woods.

Glad you found Crews Lake.....that a nice place to fish. You were right near the chain of lakes which is another neat area. These 5 lakes can be accessed behind Cowford Island and to the north of the back side of the island. Sometimes you can really load up in there.
I will be on the river tomorrow but about 20 miles north of Cowford.

Wow we found one lake but didn't know there were 5. we went way up and talked to a man that told us about crews and didn't have a lot of time in there. we were jigging and caught several crappie and even some fair brim that hit crappie jigs. we are still learning but are excited about going back in there again. the current in that river is so strong its too hard to fish. the man said it was like 4 feet high right now and i think we took the south route into it and the depth made us think if it went down 4 feet we might not make it in there. I think we spotted the north route when we came out so maybe it is deeper.
we had been fishing deer point some and were looking for a better place so i appreciate your help! I tried to register on pensacola sight you referred to and had trouble getting on it.

You are learning....only way to do that is get out there and start poking around. Personally, I love to explore new water and lakes back in the swamp. I have a map of the lower river from about Bozeman's Fish Camp on hwy 3280, all the way down to the bay. I will try to send with attachment. If it does not work send me a message to [email protected]. It will work with regular email. Bozeman's is maybe 3 or 4 miles below where you were at Crews.
You will find the Cowford is a popular launching spot, especially as the weather improves and the river drops a little more. You may want to think about exploring Pine Long which is close to Cowford, and other launching ramp along hwy 3280 and up hwy 81 from Bruce. If I can help in that regard just let me know.
