I am looking for the best time of the year to go spec fishing on Okeechobee and a good guide. North or South end it doesn't matter.

    Any comments suggestions appreciated.

We don't do any guiding this was my first trip to the lake pre fishing with a friend that lives down there for our Florida crappie club tournament!! Come tournament time the conditions had changed drasticly and I had a hard time catching a 7fish limit to weigh in lol!!

That is definitely the way fishing goes. When you think you have crappie figured out, things
change and the results are often totally different.

Last time I was there there was no Monkey Box, just the iron that held it up. Did they put up a new one? Also call Rons guide service out of Lakeport.
