Default Port Charotte/Punta Gorda vacation March 23-29

Headed to Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda March 23-29. Planning to fish most every day fresh water and salt. I will post a report when I return. If anyone wants to share a trip together contact me know by personal message.

Good luck, hope you have a great time. Probably could save some space packing and not pack any freshwater stuff except some heavy bass tackle to use inshore for reds, trout and snook. Not much freshwater in that area and it is a mecca for inshore saltwater.

Sand fleas in the surf. Everything eats them.

I will be stopping in to my favorite bait and tackle shops there Fishin Franks. They will be my main spot for information, bait and tackle. I wish that I could have timed it better by being at there shop for the tent sale this past Saturday.

As I promised, here is a fishing report from my trip. I purchased a non-resident fresh and saltwater license upon arrival. I was told a couple of spots to try nearby to catch tilapia. I brought some bread for bait but had no luck. Dad has a small boat and we fished mangroves and inshore areas on four different days total. I purchased live shrimp for bait each day. We
caught a nice variety of fish including Mangrove snapper, sheephead, black drum, snook, catfish and an unidentified fish. Each day we had keeper sized snapper to fillet. I didn't get to fish as much as I would have liked both at Sanibel and freshwater but the trip was nice overall.
