I don't know. Eats fish, long beak with feathers. It's a long legged chicken for all I know (specktacklure knows). Sure are pretty, and friendly. They've offered to take the fish off the hook for me more than once.

According to 'Readers Digest's Nature in America' page on 'how to recognize the Herons and Egrets page the white one is a great egret because of yellow bill and black legs. The gray one is a Great Blue Heron because belly is not white. Beautiful pictures.--shu

Thanks Shu. I never had a bad day on the water when I lived there. Fish or no fish, there's so much to see. I did a drift on the Wekiva a lot of years back and had a trolling motor for the return trips so I was quiet on the downriver trip, just letting the river move me for the most part. Otter, bobcat, hog, deer, eagles and osprey and many others kept me on the ball waiting for what was next. Good pictures Ed.

Got one of those Blue's that claimed my pond couple of years ago. Love to sit and watch him through the windows as he fishes.
